Meet Pastor Nick

Pastor Nick Sorrell grew up in a Christian home and was saved at the age of nine while his Dad, Stephen Sorrell, was the Assistant Pastor of Joel Baptist Church in West Columbia, SC.  Shortly after turning twelve, Brother Stephen announced the call of God for the family to be missionaries in Sri Lanka.  In 2001, the Sorrell family arrived on the mission field of Sri Lanka.  Pastor Nick was heavily involved in all aspects of the ministry and quickly learned both of the local languages and customs of the Sri Lankan people.  By the age of 18, he was working in the youth ministry and outreach programs, and was preaching twice a week in the services.  Although the LORD had already called Pastor Nick to preach in 1999, he answered the call to be a missionary in Sri Lanka in December of 2005.

Pastor Nick was accepted in the Maranatha Baptist Mission Board and was sent through his home church at the time of Joel Baptist Church in West Columbia, SC.  Due to health and other circumstances, the Lord moved Bro Stephen Sorrell to Shady Grove Baptist Church to Pastor in 2008.  Pastor Nick was married in December of 2008, and he and his wife Sarah began deputation together to continue the work in Sri Lanka.  Over the next ten years, Pastor Nick and Sister Sarah had three children and were able to plant the Love of Jesus Church in Mannar, Sri Lanka.  In April of 2018, Shady Grove Baptist Church called Pastor Nick to become their Pastor.  He now is serving the LORD in Bossier City with his wonderful wife Sarah, and three precious children; Isaac, Isabelle, and Jaelle.
