7-14-10 Sorrell 1 Cor Message 42: Follow Christ

Follow Christ

I.          11:1 concludes the subject on offending others from the previous chapter.

II.         What Paul is not saying in 11:1 and why.

Acts 17:10-11 10And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

1 Corinthians 14:29-32 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. 30If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. 31For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. 32And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

III.       In 11:1 Paul is saying Follow Christ in the same way I follow Christ.

John 1:35-37 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; 36And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! 37And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

IV.       Praise in two areas – An immature Church keeps the ordinances
