How do I Find God’s Will

Heb 11:32-38

God’s will,

I.          The existence of a plan does not determine the will of God.

Hebrews 11:8 8By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

II.        Consequences will not determine the will of God.

John 6:60 – 66 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? 61When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? 62What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? 63It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. 64But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. 65And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. 66From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

IV.       How do we find God’s will?

A.        Is it expressly written in the Bible, Go to Church, read your Bible, Pray, Go and tell, Give etc…

2 Peter 3:9 9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

1 Thessalonians 4:3 3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

1 Peter 2:13-15 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 14Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. 15For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

B.        Is it within God’s guiding principles: Biblical Priorities, Bible responsibilities (keepers at home), nourish and cherish, bring them up,

C.        How was it birthed?  That which is born of the flesh is flesh.

John 3:6 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

1.         Ideas that come with wrong motivation.

2.         Ideas that come when we are angry, hurt, upset.

3.         Ideas that come from others who do not know God.
