Meekness

Text:     Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Intro:  How do you be meek etc.  Be filled with the Spirit.  More about bam I filled with the Spirit

Numbers 12:3 ³(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

I.          Rests in the will of God

Exodus 2:12-14 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand. ¹³And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow? ¹⁴And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.

II.         Never Looks for the Spotlight; Understands its all God not God using our abilities and strengthes

            Acts 7:25 ²⁵For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.

III.       Self is never the Issue

            Exodus 3:1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

Genesis 46:34 ³⁴That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

IV.       Meekness has nothing to prove; is not defensive

V.        Does not Hold Grudges

            Num 12

Definition:     Understanding’ resting comfortably in and fulfilling the task God has given you to do.

Special Note:    Meekness is bold, but boldness without meekness is ugly.

Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

Acts 4:29-31 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, ³⁰By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. ³¹And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
