4-21-10 1 Cor Message 30: A Dispensation of the Gospel

A Dispensation of the Gospel

Intro: Verse 14

I.          Better to die than to make his glorying void; v 15

Galatians 6:14 14But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Ezra 8:22-23 22For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him. 23So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was entreated of us.

II.        Paul’s Gospel call gives him no right to boast; v 16

John 7:18 18He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

IV.       The Dispensation of the Gospel; v17

2 Cor 5:18-19

2 Corinthians 4:6-7 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

VI.       The Gospel is without charge in every way

Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
