For Mine Own Sake
Text: Isaiah 43:25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
Introduction: What is required for forgiveness – Confess and forsake (repent)
Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
A. Confession without repentance – I’m sorry cards imply attempting to avoid consequence usually said with our hands over our tails “Make me as one of thy servants. I am not worthy etc.
B. Repentence without confession leaves the barrier between us
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
I. The burden of sin will keep us from our course – It hurts us, it hinders His work
II. Remorse over our sin stifles our Joy. Makes us unfruitful. Joy of the Lord –
Nehemiah 8:8-10 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading. 9And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law. 10Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
III. Sin Hinders our fellowship with God – It hurts us, it hurts Him - Text
Isaiah 59:2 2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Till I forgive You, the Relationship can never be the same
