I.          Verse 13 - Note similarity between this phrase and the beginning of v13.

A.        The body is for the Lord.

Is 43:7

B.         The Lord is for the Body. –  God works through our bodies.

2 Cor. 4:10-11; Mt 5:16

II.         Verse 14 – The resurrected life is God’s work.

Rom 6:4-6; 2 Cor. 4:14

III.       Verse 16

A.        One flesh = sexual relations.

B.         Significance for Gen 2:23-24.

IV.       Verse 17

A.        Unity to Christ, each other and the World knowing.

John 17:20-23

B.         The key to our unity as a Church is our abiding in Him!!!!

V.        Verse 18-19

A.        Fornication is a unique sin.  It is against the body.  Against the Holy Ghost’s temple.  Against the property of the Lord.  Against the Lord’s possession.

B.         This emphasizes the seriousness of the sin of fornication.  Drugs, Bad music, Alcohol, none of these are sins against the body. 

C.        Cannot use this scripture to preach against smoking.
