Your Sin or Mine

I. We live in perilous times.

2 Tim 3:1-5

II. In light of these times, what does God say to do?

2 Tim 3:5; 3:13-14

III. The greatest danger in the sin around us is not that it is going to destroy our nation or our children’s future, or our family. The greatest danger in the sin around us is it can seduce us into talking the focus off ourselves.

Matthew 7:3-5 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? ⁴Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? ⁵Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

A. Do we know more about our sin or the sin of others

B. Do we spend more time focusing on our sin or the sin of our nation

IV. Example: This caused Israel to have apathetic and complacent attitude towards their our own sin.

Ezekiel 18:1-4 The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying, ²What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge? ³As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel. ⁴Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

V. Its my fault

Its not President Obama’s fault that…

A. Your 3 year old runs the family.

B. You are looking at pornography.

C. You would rather watch a football game than take your wife out to eat.

D. Your husband would rather work late than come home to you

E. You are having a secrete relationship on facebook

F. You and your girlfriend are committing fornication

G. You’d rather lie than tell the Truth

H. Your marriage is headed toward divorce
